Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice that encourages students to shift their focus inward. The Yin way is to hold a pose under a reasonable, non-maximum stress for long periods of time, (usually three to five minutes). All poses are on the floor.
Yin yoga stretches and targets both the deep connective tissues between the muscles, and the fascia throughout the body. But because the layers of connective tissue cover every muscle, ligament, organ and even cell, you understand that whatever we do in yin as a ripple effect and an overall beneficial effect throughout the whole being.
The aim is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility as the poses stretch and exercise the bone and joint areas. It also helps us to regulate the body’s flow of energy .
It is a practice that brings yourself to an habit of introspection which will spark awareness. Like other forms of yoga, Yin brings increases flexibility and decreases stress, contributing to a general state of wellbeing.
This is a class that will also offer the healing effects of sound bath throughout the practice.
